I've been working on a backstory for my Overwatch Character. This was a good exercise to figure out how to create a characters identity.

Occupation: Botanist, Omnic sympathizer, experimental researcher, vigilante.
Personality: Vengeful, obsessive, passionate.

Arianna is vengeful and obsessed with finding the ones who killed her Omnic friends and will stop at nothing to bring them to justice. Her obsession makes her a very dangerous and driven person to those who would stand in her way.
Backstory:
Arianna Chavez was born in Peru, to two prominent Botanists who were experimenting with sustainable plant life to help the government with preserving the steadily declining rainforests. Their research often classified, involved working plant-life to survive in the changing climate, even in hostile environments.
Arianna grew up learning much from her parents about the environment and plant life. Her parents wanted her instead to follow in their footsteps and continue on with their work. Arianna was often picked on at school and did not have any human friends. She developed a keen interest for Omnic Technology and making friends with many of them. Her parents disagreed with their child's behaviour and forbid their daughter from associating with them. Tension between Arianna and her parents grew over the years and eventually she ran away from home and lived on the street finding support from many of her old Omnic friends. Arianna spent many years on the streets, helping Omnics and committing petty crimes to survive. Arianna used her skills as a Botanist to grow food in the ruined streets to survive. Her Omnic friends were often outcasts or broken without homes to go back to. Chavez began using the skills she learned from her parents to help repair broken omnics to create hybrid Bio-Omnics. Ability to go undetected from Omnic scanning technology and in some cases even heal themselves without the need of non-organic parts. This Bio-Omnic technology caught the eye of Talon agents who wished to use their technology to make self-repairing omnic soldiers.
In a night operation Talon agents attempted to capture Arianna with hopes of exploiting her knowledge on Bio-Omnic technology. The raid happened on their hideout to which a large scale battle occurred. Arianna was able to escape however all of her Bio-Omnic friends were captured. Talon used one of Chavez’s friends to contact her to set up an exchange to which Arianna would to turn herself in to Talon, and in return the Bio-Omnics would be freed. Arianna would enter Talons experiments for the next few years, a prisoner in their research compound. Arianna's purpose was to research and experiment with ways to create Bio-Omnic soldiers. Many of her experiments involved testing on herself as she would not allow Talon to capture her technology. Over the next few years, Ariannas physical form began transforming as she tested out her own technology, growing long vines that she could control using Omnic augmentations. She reluctantly created many Omnic soldiers, however after two years and no real progress, Talon began to grow inpatient and began forcing Arianna to speed up her work. Arianna began asking about the wellbeing of her Bio-Omnic friends to which the Talon said that they were back in Peru.
One night, an unknown force launched an attack on Talons experimental lab, causing a massive firefight. With all the chaos erupting, Arianna decided to escape and in the process destroy all of her research. She engaged many of Talons forces and used her new augmentations to dispose of them effectively. In her path to escape, Arianna stumbled across an arm with half her name written on it. She realised that is was the arm of one of her friends and discovered that her Bio-Omnic friends had been in the same compound all the time she was there. To her horror, they had all been slain, either before or as part of the attack on Talon. Arianna was enraged and looked for anyone who could giver her answers. Unfortunately only dead remained either by her hand or by the attackers. As the Compound went up in flames, Arianna mustered up the strength to escape and make her way half-broken back to Peru.
Arianna returned to her parents research lab to find it abandoned and overgrown with vines from past experiments. Arianna settled in and used it as her place of hiding. Years later Arianna emerged equipped with her own modifications, vowing revenge on Talon, and the forces that caused the death of her Bio-Omnic friends. She became a vigilante and targeted Omnic opponents, human or otherwise.
